This website outlines the Plan 1: Student Accident Only and Plan 2: Student Health Insurance coverage that is available to all eligible Maine College of Art Students. The need for protection against unexpected medical expenses, that may be incurred as a result of accident or sickness, is obvious. These expenses can seriously deplete the financial resources earmarked for educational purposes. The Plan consists of 2 separate policies. The policy represented by Plan 1 provides coverage for Accident-Only and the policy represented by Plan 2 provides Student Health Insurance coverage for Accident, Sickness and Preventive Services.
Plan 1: Accident Only: Plan 1 is mandatory and all eligible students are automatically enrolled. Accident benefits are provided for incurred eligible Medical Expenses up to $1,000, payable at 100% of Usual and Customary for Covered Medical Expenses incurred as inpatient or outpatient, as a result of a Covered Accident until the termination date or any extension of benefits of the policy, subject to all policy provisions.
Plan 2: Accident, Sickness, and Preventive Services: All registered students taking 9 or more credit hours are automatically enrolled in Plan 2 unless proof of medical insurance is provided via the on-line Waiver Form at www.crossagency.com/meca. Click on the “Waive Insurance” link and follow the instructions. On-line Waiver Forms for the Annual Policy cannot be accepted after September 12, 2014. On-line Waiver Forms for Spring Term cannot be accepted after January 23, 2015. Students who do not complete the on-line Waiver Form by the deadline, will automatically be enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan.
Payment of $1,380 (which includes an administrative fee) automatically provides coverage for a full year. Coverage begins at 12:01 a.m. on September 1, 2014 and terminates at 12:01 a.m. on August 31, 2015. Masters of Fine Arts and Masters of Teaching students in their first year will be insured from June 13, 2014. Coverage for the Spring term begins at 12:01 a.m. on January 1, 2015 and terminates at 12:01 a.m. on August 31, 2015. The cost of the Spring term coverage is $946 (which includes an administrative fee). Once enrolled, a student may not cancel the insurance. Coverage continues until the Policy terminates.
